Dutch artist and illustrator Jordy van den Nieuwendijk is currently exhibiting in the United States at the FISK Gallery in Portland. He presents a new solo show called Fool’s Spring. The artist continues to explore the theme of Nature: after an exhibition in London dedicated to the universe of the farm, he explores this time the theme of spring, forest of flowers. Again, Jordy van den Nieuwendijk worked with primary colors, oil on canvas or oil pastel on paper, the shapes used are always simple, sometimes geometric. These everyday elements that he loves so much are painted in a naive visual language at the limit between figuration and abstraction but what stands out above all is this very optimistic and positive sensitivity, with Jordy’s artworks we are amazed by the simple things of life. Note that the artist has released a whole bunch of new editions for this exhibition: a catalog of sketches, multiple risograph prints and a series of unique t-shirts.
